Product Description:

is a durable primer containing rust inhibiting pigment with good adhesion to structural steel and fabricated iron. It provides outstanding corrosion resistance to iron and steel.

Ideal For:

  • Trusses
  • Gates
  • Metal Framing
  • Window Grills

Application Tips:

  1. Surface Preparation:
    • Clean the Metal: Remove dirt, grease, and rust using a wire brush, sandpaper, or a degreaser. Ensure the surface is clean and dry.
    • Remove Rust: Use a rust remover or abrasive methods to eliminate rust. For heavy rust, consider sandblasting.
    • Sand the Surface: Lightly sand the metal to create a rough texture that helps the primer adhere.
  2. Applying the Primer:
    • Choose the Right Primer: Select a primer based on the type of metal and the conditions it will face.
    • Mixing (if required): If using a two-component primer, mix the components according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
    • Application Method: Apply the primer using a brush, roller, or spray gun. Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for the best method.
    • Coat Thickness: Apply an even coat without overloading. Most primers require one to two coats.
  3. Drying and Curing:
    • Drying Time: Allow the primer to dry according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Drying times can vary based on the type of primer and environmental conditions.
    • Curing Time: For some primers, curing might take longer. Ensure the primer is fully cured before applying topcoat.
  4. Environmental Conditions:
    • Temperature and Humidity: Apply the primer in conditions recommended by the manufacturer. Extreme temperatures or high humidity can affect drying and adhesion.

Safety and Maintenance:

  1. Ventilation:
    • Work in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling fumes. Metal primers often contain strong solvents.
  2. Protective Gear:
    • Wear gloves, goggles, and a mask to protect your skin, eyes, and respiratory system.
  3. Storage:
    • Store primers in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep the container tightly sealed to prevent drying out.
  4. Cleanup:
    • Clean tools and spills with appropriate solvents (usually recommended by the primer manufacturer). Dispose of any waste according to local regulations.

Using metal primer correctly is essential for achieving a long-lasting and professional finish on metal surfaces.
